God’s plan is better

Proverbs 19:21 – Many are the plans in the mind of a man, but it is the purpose of the Lord that will stand.
I haven’t written an update for some time now because I have been waiting on God to make something clear to me regarding what He told me.

As you know, I am currently in Taiwan studying the bible and preaching the gospel here in a nation that is only 5% Christian and needs Jesus so much. My plan after these 9 months of being in Taiwan was to do a bible teaching course called Titus and then move to Nepal for long term missionary work and teach the bible there. God’s plan is a bit different.
As I prayed about what to do with a 5 month gap between Titus and Nepal, God told me that He wants me to stay in Taiwan and staff SBS which is a minimum 2 year commitment.. When I heard this, I was a bit surprised because I was hoping for God to fill the 5 month gap, not replace it with a 2 year deal…
I battled with worries about what people would think because of what I had already told people back in Canada regarding Nepal and I knew that people were expecting me to move there shortly to share the gospel there, which is what I thought also. It was difficult because I didn’t want to have to tell everyone that plans had changed, so I wanted to make sure that what I heard was indeed from God.
While praying about it, God brought this verse in proverbs up to me and a few other ones which reminded me that without His “go ahead”, none of the plans that I had would work out anyway. He reminded me that Nepal is still where He wants me to go to, but the timing I had in my mind wasn’t the same as His.
He also reminded me that what He has me doing out here is not, and should never be determined, or influenced by any source other than Him.
That being said, He told me to not apply for the Titus program and only to apply to be on Staff in Taiwan. I obeyed and after a long wait, and some bumps in the process, I have been accepted onto staff with YWAM Taipei in Taiwan!!! I will be Staffing a bible school here for 2 years which includes teaching the bible to students, doing ministry around the city and preaching the gospel, learning Mandarin more intensively, some university ministry and much more that I will share along the way.
There have been so many confirmations that this is what God wants, so I know that God will provide all the needs required to do His work out here. It is such a privilege to be used by God and serve others in the world. I will be writing about hearing God’s voice and a somewhat detailed testimony soon so stay in touch!
If you think of it, would you please pray that God gives me wisdom in the upcoming school, a supernatural ability to learn Mandarin, and finally, for a few more people to partner with me here with monthly support so that this can remain a possibility.   2. Jacob, This is so amazing. I tried clicking on the link from FB but it was firewalled :/ But I am so proud of you and your obedience to our Papa through this past year and a half. You are going to be a great teacher of the Word, because Jesus has let it become such a reality in your life! I’m FOR YOU in all that our Father leads you in!! Take care friend!
