This update is a follow-up from my previous one. If you haven’t read it, there is some big changes happening with Amber and I. (I am sorry that this is sort of an “informational update” but please hear our heart in this)

Since Amber and I have decided to commit to Taiwan long term, this means that we need to fully apply ourselves here and that starts with language. We believe that the most effective way to reach the people with the gospel and love of Jesus here is to first be able to integrate into their culture and language. Our heart and vision is to see the ENTIRE nation of Taiwan become a Christian nation!
In 1 Corinthians 9:20-23, Paul says that he becomes like those who he is preaching to so that by all means, he might save some. That is what we are hoping to do here in Taiwan.
This scale below is something that we were shown recently by our base leader regarding why language is so important and it shows the effectiveness of missionaries who learn the language of the culture vs missionaries who do not. After 3 years of being in Taiwan, I have found this to be true in my own life and by watching others:
The Red line represents missionaries who do not learn language: They tend to get quickly involved in ministries and teaching opportunities and preaching, but then they hit a limit to their effectiveness.
The Green line represents missionaries who learn language first: They tend to start off slow as they are primarily focused on language for a period of time, but then they are able to reach many more spheres and are able to participate in much more than if they do not know the language.

Amber and I have committed to a 2-year language program with YWAM called CLLT along with our ministries here which will enable us to be able to speak Chinese and even translate by the end! This is so exciting for us! My first class is on March 5th and Amber’s is on March 6th.
However, we have run into a large road-block. In order to participate in CLLT, we need to raise support. This is my least favorite type of update to write, but we can only last one-two months in language learning with our current financial state. Praise the Lord as we have had one person offer to support us recently!
Here’s the real situation though:
We need to raise US $550-600 more per month for the next 2 years or US $6600-$7200 per year in order for both of us to completely learn Chinese and continue in the ministries that we are a part of in Taiwan. I know that this seems like a lot but we believe that this is what God is leading us to do. We will keep you updated as God provides!
We are going to begin CLLT even though we do not have the finances yet and continue in it until the money runs out. As far as right now, it will last 1-2 months and then we will reassess, but we are hoping and praying that God will provide every dollar needed and that we will be able to continue to learn Chinese for the full 2 years.
We would like to ask you to please pray about partnering with us in this financially.
Our vision is to see the ENTIRE nation of Taiwan become a Christian nation! From there, that all surrounding countries would see the change in Taiwan and turn and believe in Jesus!

Below are a couple ways that you can support us. Please send us a message if you would like more information or want to just send a note! We would love to hear back from you!
God bless you my friends and family! We love you!
