Serving on the Mountain

Upcoming Nepal trip:

This is soo exciting for Amber and I as we are finally taking bigger steps toward our permanent move to Nepal where our long term heart and goal is to open an orphanage for some of the abandoned children there (How this will happen we don’t know yet, we do know that if God leads us in a certain direction He will be the one to help open the right doors). We were asked to partner with a YWAM base in Montana and go to Nepal where we will build a school in a village and teach them how to continue it, go out distributing Bibles, and meet with people in Nepal to begin connection for our future transition there!
We weren’t sure about the financial side of it and how it is going to work but as we prayed about it, God gave both Amber and I peace about going and challenged us again that we need to trust that He will provide the way if we are willing to obey.

God has always been providing up to this point for both of us and we know that as long as we are being obedient to Him, He will continue to provide. He is ALWAYS faithful and He knows our needs before we do.

A couple road blocks have come up that we would love to have prayer for:

  1. We will be climbing high up into the mountains to get to the place where we build the school and Amber and I need to prepare our bodies for that kind of hike, but a leg injury from a while ago has flared up in my leg and it is causing me pain even when just walking, so I am unable to train my body right now. I will get an MRI on Sunday and hopefully get treatment soon so that it is not a problem but these things each have a cost so just need prayer for healing, the ability to exercise, and finances to cover the treatment/supplement cost. (We are committed to going to serve in Nepal no matter what happens)
  2. We are both in need of supplies for the trip such as a hiking backpack, shoes, and other essentials for getting to the village so please just pray for us to be able to get these things.

Praise God that we were able to buy the plane tickets!!! 😀

Building a new friendship:

Willy is a Taiwanese friend of mine that I am really looking forward to getting to know more and seeing his life change! He is a very friendly guy who had a difficult experience with Christians when he was young but from what it sounds like, they weren’t Christians, yet it has left a bad taste in him. As we have been talking and spending time together, he has said that his understanding of Christians has been changed since he knows that I and the other people from YWAM are really different.

We recently talked about the difference between religion and relationship and that God really wants a real personal relationship and not religion. He is open to talking more and he has some mixed views from Taiwanese religion. He will be doing his military service soon and I don’t know how much we will get to see each other but please pray for him to have a real encounter with Jesus and that he will keep his heart open to knowing God. Also if you get any words or encouragements for him, please send them my way as that would probably mean a lot for him.

Recent personal growth:

I had no idea of all the things I would learn in married life and a huge majority of those things are under the category of communication. It seems that there is something new to grow in with every different topic that is brought up and I am realizing how selfish and prideful I can be at times. It is easy to think that you are becoming humble when you are single. Marriage is revealing some issues that I haven’t dealt with and I am pushed and pulled to grow in a completely new way.

One thing I know though is that I want to continue to grow and remain soft and malleable instead of becoming stubborn and although it is very difficult at times to want this, I am challenged to fight my pride on a continual basis.
I love being married and I am blessed to have so many new challenges and so many joys!

Love is the Answer, Humility is the Key, Jesus is the Way!
