Our first week back in Taiwan came with a wonderful surprise. David, a young Taiwanese man has been coming to our café for the last few years and we could see that he is hungry to know God more and grow in his relationship with Him. After talking with a few staff while Amber and I were away, David decided that he wanted to get baptized!
On Sunday Amber and I drove out to a nearby beach to meet David and a few others. I then had the privilege, along with another friend, to baptize David. The look on David’s face when he came out of the water was priceless! Amber saw him the next night at our café and he was still beaming with excitement because of this big step that he took.
Please pray for David in this time that he will continue to stand strong by staying in God’s word. One of his biggest fears before getting baptized was that he wouldn’t be strong enough to stay away from sin after he makes this step. I was able to encourage him to take the step of getting baptized and not let this fear stop him. I let him know that we would continue to be here to keep him accountable and to help him in any way that we can. Hopefully throughout the future, David will grow closer to the Lord each day as we build a stronger relationship with him also.
If you think about David over the next little while, please join us in praying for them. Pray that David would continue to fan the flame that God has put inside him.
Slow down and stay consistent.
God has been speaking to me recently about this idea of slowing down and staying consistent with the ministry that He has given me. Some days I feel like there isn’t much happening and then get somewhat discouraged but I feel like God is just reminding me that not every day needs to have the thrill of something big. What is more important than fabulous events, is a constant obedience and consistency of faith regardless of whether there is an emotional high or not.
Abraham was given a promise from God that he waited 25 years for before it even began to be fulfilled. I am sure that there were plenty of “regular” days in that time. The important thing is to stay faithful in the midst of it. To stay obedient forever and remain in the Lord’s plan for you and those around you.
I want to encourage you with the same thing. Just because something isn’t an extreme adventure every day, and is sometimes a bit slower, doesn’t mean that God isn’t doing something within it. Just remain in faith and love and stay consistent in character. God is consistent always in character and we are called to imitate Him. Just slow down and rest in His sufficiency.
God bless you! Love is the answer, Humility is the key, Jesus is the way!
