As I am sitting here studying Isaiah, I am compelled to write about something that brought me to tears just now while reading.
Isaiah 53:8 is used in the New Testament in Acts 8:32-33 when a Eunuch is asking Philip to explain the passage to him. Philip heard the man’s question and then opened his mouth and beginning with this scripture, he told the man the good news about Jesus. -(First hit to my heart)
I can only imagine the joy that came to the man as he heard about Jesus from Philip. This eunuch’s response to the good news about Jesus brings me so much joy (as I am writing this I am having dejavue). He heard the good news and immediately upon seeing a bit of water on the side of the road responded by emphatically saying “See, here is water! What prevents me from being baptized?” -(That right there is what hits my heart even harder)
And they stopped and Philip baptized the eunuch.
I imagine this man being on cloud 9 seeing that with this understanding, his entire life and eternity is completely changed and all his sin had been forgiven! My hands shake and heart trembles as my eyes even now fill with tears of joy for that man and the future people I meet in my life who will respond with this much passion and excitement upon hearing the great news of Jesus Christ. Our savior who loves us deeper than any words or thoughts of man can begin to describe.
What a joy we have to share the good news of Jesus with others!
