Third update from Nepal – July 27/2014 (Nepali experiences)

Nepali children (love these)I’m sorry this one is a long one but the details I felt are necessary to describe what’s happening here 🙂. I will make this part short and let you read my daily journal. This week has been so awesome! Please send me your prayer requests! I pray often for you back home and people here but some specifics are always appreciated 🙂.

Love always and in Jesus,
Jacob

Day 21
-street ministry – paralyzed woman

Today I went out to meet people on the streets and get to know them a bit. A few offered me tea which I drank willingly haha even though it wasn’t my favorite tea 🙂.
I went to a woman’s house who invited us inside and she was paralyzed on the left side of her body for the past 2 years. She knew who Jesus was and follows him even now in her struggles. Unlike seeds that fall on thorny or rocky ground, she hasn’t fallen away due to her suffering but rather, in such a hard life, she has persevered and loves The Lord. We prayed for her for a couple hours and worshipped in her tiny home that was about 10’x10’…
She started crying out to God and started to move her arm and foot a little bit which was a big deal for her.

I love seeing Gods work. We also walked around the town more after and met a few more women. One said that I remind her of her son, another had problems with her husband being a drunk and leaving them. We blessed them in all the ways we were able and prayed for them also then just spent some time with them talking about stuff.

Day 22
-banquet house – kids

Today, the team and I went to the banquet house which is an outdoor church covered by a tent and has a small room where we can give some medical attention but it’s basically a place on Thursdays where the homeless come to eat a meal and get a loving touch and friendly face to talk with.
I helped with some medical stuff for a bit and prayed for the sick, then went out and offered henna drawings to the kids and anyone else who wanted it. (Pic below)
They all wanted the same thing. The cross that I have on my arm, they wanted on their arms. So I spent the rest of the time doing henna tattoos on people and couldn’t even get through them all by the end. It was a fun time and an opportunity to sit with them for a little while and pray during the henna.

In the evening, I was so blessed to be able to visit the orphanage with all the children again. I love those kids more then I knew I could love. They get so excited to hang out with me and have zero expectations. They just love and want to be loved and it is so easy. We all worshipped together and the kids crowded around me just to lay against me while we worshipped. As I was laying there with a couple kids falling asleep in my arms, I started to cry at how much I loved them and realized once again that God loves me so much more then that.
A few of them wrote me letters before I left, calling me uncle Jacob and asking me to come back.
I left walking on air and wishing I had more time with them.

Day 23 – temple worship
– today was so awesome! We went to the highest temple in the city where you can see the whole city and it is not only beautiful, but we were able to sing worship right inside the temple over the whole city. I spent some time praying and reading the bible out loud throughout the temple grounds and worshipped for a while also. The place we were singing was completely empty before we started but while we worshipped, a large crowd of people gathered to listen and take pictures of us worshipping and many people thanked us afterward.
We continued around the temple grounds, reading the bible out loud and praying for people.

It was a fun place because there were hundreds of monkeys climbing over everything. Had to be a bit careful though cause one of them attacked Christophe lol..

I don’t think you can count the number of idols in this city but none of them matter in the presence of the Holy Spirit.
So then, about eating food sacrificed to idols: We know that “An idol is nothing at all in the world” and that “There is no God but one.” (1 Corinthians 8:4 NIV)

Day 24 -kids – fruits – soak
– it is so easy to love kids. Especially these ones. Today we spent the morning reading the bible out loud in the city bringing life to Nepal through Gods word. “All scripture is God breathed” 2 Timothy 3:16
The last time I saw the kids at the orphanage they asked me to come back on Saturday and play soccer with them, so at 1pm, 3 of us went to play with them and it was a blast!
It’s rainy season here right now so it has been raining which makes for a very wet soccer field. I mean wet like swimming pool wet. I took off my shoes and went for it with 18 kids and adults running through pools of water and tons of mud! Slipping and face planting, falling on my butt and getting drenched in mud, water and grass haha. Not to mention it is pretty hard to kick the ball out of mud pools continually while everyone is falling on it lol. It was just floating around for most of the time.
The kids and us had tons of fun and they especially liked watching me fall over and over in the mud 🙂

We quickly showered, changed, and went to church. My old friend Elise from grade 7 and up saw that I was in Nepal and messaged me to ask me what was up. She then told me that about 6 years ago, she was in Nepal working with a youth church here and told me all about it. She said they were on fire for God and it was a really great place to check out so I got the address and pastors info and found it! Christophe and I went there and fell in love with this place instantaneously. Most people there were from 15-19 years old and so excited to worship Jesus!
The music was something else… It was incredible! Easily the best worship band I have ever heard in that style. I had a huge grin plastered on my face for the whole time and then near the end, the pastor spoke about giving everything to Jesus. In our tithes, God says to test him and he will open the floodgates of heaven for us. This is the only place in the bible and our lives that God allows/commands us to test Him.

“Bring the whole tithe into the storehouse, that there may be food in my house. Test me in this,” says the Lord Almighty, “and see if I will not throw open the floodgates of heaven and pour out so much blessing that there will not be room enough to store it.” (Malachi 3:10 NIV)

After peter shared, God told me to ask to share my testimony and peter said yes, so I shared with them how I am proof that God is faithful to this promise. I had plenty, with furniture, money, a house and 2 vehicles just 5 months ago. Then God told me to give it all to Him so I listened and gave everything up, leaving me with just 3 bags of clothes and enough money for a plane ticket and deposit to go to YWAM. I was still in need of $9000 and had no way to get it. But I gave every dollar I had away except for $5.00 and God has provided everything I needed and more! Food, clothes, $9000!, transportation, friends, love and everything else I could’ve desired!
When you give everything to The Lord, he will give everything back and more!
After I shared, we prayed, blessed the church with what we had, and chatted with some people there.
It was an amazing time of worship and love and they invited me back to volunteer with them if I come back to Nepal.

Then during the night we had a soak which is all night worship at the prayer house which was packed with around 50 people and just passionate worship and prayer for each other and people back home in our lives and churches. It was powerful and joyful day
