Second update from Nepal – July 21/2014 (This one is good)

Village in the mountain called Silla

Village in the mountain called Silla

My friends and family,
What a journey this has been thus far here in Nepal. I just got back from a small village called Silla that God told us to go to on the far west side of the country just bordering India. It is literally a stones throw from the border. About 30 hours driving and then a bit of a trek to get to the village. These people had never heard of Jesus and some were so excited to hear that their lives could be saved and sins forgiven just by accepting Jesus and asking forgiveness.
It was a spiritually dark place when we arrived but by the time we left, you could feel a difference in the atmosphere and peoples lives will be forever changed there. Big smiles planted on their faces and many asked us to come back again.
The people who accepted Christ were happy to forsake their idols and follow Jesus. For he is God of all creation.
It has been challenging to keep my energy levels up because the spiritual is much more draining then the physical is. With Jesus by my side I have strength though.

We have another 10 days until we leave to go to India for an entirely different type of world which will change the dynamics of our ministry. The focus here has been to love on people whole heartedly and show Jesus love to all people including those who reject us or curse us. Just as Jesus would.

I will have no reserves, no retreats, and no regrets leaving here as I will put everything I have into loving others the way God wants me to and continue to listen to his voice.

I am praying for you back home continually in my morning quiet times and pray that God will reveal himself to each and every one of you in new ways daily that we might all grow together. God says we are all different parts of one body in Christ as we were all made in His image and play a part in his perfect plan.
1 Corinthians 12:12-end of chapter speaks of this.

Thank you for your continued prayer and support! God has been putting on my heart another way I can continue to build up His kingdom that I will be sure to let you all know about when God allows me to.

Love, your brother,
Jacob President

Day 12 13 and 14
– today we left at 5:30am to start our journey across the country to a town that God told us to go to called Silla.
It is 3 days away and we are driving a van with 15 people crammed in so there isn’t any leg room lol.
We ended up stopping at a nearby town to get the roof rack fixed but it didn’t get fixed properly so we stopped at another town and it took 3 hours more to fix it finally. During that time we prayed for street kids nearby who were all sniffing glue.
After we left, we drove till 8:30 where we stayed the night in a hotel.

Next morning we started again at 6 and had issue after issue with the van due to overheating, fan belt breaking, etc.
It was a VERY dangerous drive in the mountains but also very beautiful. We finally got to our next stop and stayed the night in another hotel. This place was great! It was a hotel inside the clouds.

Then at 8 we got going again to finally arrive in a town where we would trek from there to Silla since it is in the mountains. The trek was not really a trek. More like a small walk for a mile uphill but we made it to Silla and met some people in the town who are very generous and let us have 2 rooms in their houses while we stay.

Tomorrow we are showing the Passion of the Christ on a projector screen that we brought in a backpack.

Day 15 and 16
-after waking up and having breakfast, we worshipped outside the place we slept for a couple of hours and prayed for the people in the village for healing and for their hearts to be opened to Christ. Some people had demonic dreams so we prayed for a number of them, including one specific girl who was very beautiful.

Later during the day, we showed a Christian movie in the school and worked in the village cleaning up their properties and doing some landscaping. Then in the evening we showed the Jesus film. During the Jesus film however, some of the men came back home and were now angry and did not want us in their village anymore for various reasons.
This was an obvious spiritual attack on us as the enemy didn’t want us there. The movie ended just before Jesus died on the cross due to these circumstances and they allowed us to spend the night there but had to leave the next morning.
We slept and I woke up in the middle of the night from a bad dream with a sense that multiple people were in the room standing over us watching us and I quickly realized that what I was seeing was demons so I rebuked them in Jesus name and prayed for a little bit and they left immediately. I’ve always had the gift of spiritual sight and discernment but not often have I seen that before.
There is a heavy spiritual presence all throughout Nepal that has been noticed even by people who claim to not have a sense of this at all.

In the morning we saw that they had set up idol worship and demonic things outside our doorway to the room which explains what I woke up to. We then just had a time of worship and prayer again and the girl that we prayed for invited us to worship Jesus at her house so we went there and she made us lunch, we worshipped and prayed for all the people there including her mom and family and both her and her mom accepted Jesus as their savior!
Praise God! She also said that the demonic dreams she was having had stopped and she woke up so happy and joyful.
We left after that but first cleaned up their school a bit and I believe that God has started something wonderful there. He sent us there in the first place with a plan and I think we did exactly as he wanted us to.
Many of the people wanted us to stay still and some asked us to come back again but the men who didn’t spend much time with us didn’t want that and we weren’t going to be forceful in any way.

After we left, we came to another village where we spent some time with the kids and people and we spent another few hours worshipping The Lord. Now we are about to sleep and heading back to Kathmandu in the morning.
