Hey family and friends!
I have safely arrived in India as our teams Nepal chapter has come to an end. It has been an amazing experience thus far and know that God has worked on my heart and the hearts of the Nepali people we were fortunate enough to meet. The Nation is changing and the presence of God is beginning to flow through Nepal. I have been so blessed to be able to go there and help bring the truth with me. This couldn’t have been done without God’s grace and your support! A difference has been made in so many lives and will continue to be made. Especially in Silla.
My next chapter is here in India and I am excited to see what Jesus has for the next month. I will be preaching in a church for an hour this Tuesday which will be my first time ever and I will be sharing on discipleship and giving everything to God.
My family I love you so much and will see you soon!
Love always and in Jesus,
Jacob
Day 26 – pashupatinath
-Pashupatinath is a place in Nepal that is the most holy Hindu spot in the city of Kathmandu. There are many evil spirits there and it is a place that needs Jesus. People bring their sick family members there to die when doctors say there is no hope and they just wait for them to die, then burn the body within 2 hours and the sadus eat the ash and bathe in the dead bodies ash with water.
This ritual goes on often and when I was there, 2 bodies were being burnt, one was waiting to be burned and one woman’s mother died and was carried out uncovered right in front of us within 2 minutes of dying.
There was many tears and a lot of mourning throughout the place. We spent time praying for the sadus and telling them about how much Jesus loves them and wants to know them. We also spent a good amount of time praying for the families of the dead and dying as well as for the sick.
Day 27 – Tuesday – sports
-today I met some missionaries who invited me to play volleyball so I met them and we played for a couple hours which was awesome! Then they invited me to go to their place for dinner and we had buffalo mo-mos.
they were amazing people with a passion for Jesus and wisdom beyond their years. We exchanged testimonies and then had a bible study together and it was amazing how much like a family it felt like. Especially after I had only just met them. We all prayed for each other and then played a board game called munchkin which lasted 2 hours lol but I won in the end! YES!
I was about to leave and they invited me to stay the night instead of paying for a cab. I happily accepted and we had a great sleep, breakfast in the morning and then back to the guest house. When you know Jesus, he leads you into all kinds of wonderful opportunities and you instantly become family to everyone through love.
Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It does not dishonor others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. (1 Corinthians 13:4-7 NIV)
I am by no means perfect and I struggle with loving others the way this scripture says love is but I am continually working on myself and towards loving people better. God challenges me often through experiences to learn the meaning of love and how to put it in action in a genuine and sincere way.
Day 28 -worship Wednesday
-today was a day dedicated to praise to Jesus! In the morning we spent about 3 hours singing and worshipping in the prayer room. Resting in Gods presence is an amazing feeling.
Preparation in the spirit before going out to places here in Nepal is so important. The battles here are totally spiritual and that is the main cause for the issues Nepali people face.
Day 29,30,31- travel
– on the 29th, we all caught a bus after praying for the Iris people in Nepal and it lasted 15 hours to arrive at the border of India. Then after that, another 3 hours to the train station where we waited 5 hours to get on our train.
The train was awesome! 4 of us in one car and 4 in another. We got into our car and enjoyed 12 hours of people staring at the white people in confusion lol. During the ride, we put on some worship music with my wireless speaker and sang during the ride. It was a fun time and reminded me of working on the railroad.
After getting off the train, we caught another cab for 3 hours to our destination in Shillong, India at the YWAM base here. There are very few people here and they are all so friendly. I can’t wait for what we are going to do here.
