So I am finally in India and it couldn’t be more wonderful. I haven’t showered for a while so I am quite dirty but I can’t really tell anymore haha.. They don’t have showers here or toilets btw.
We have eaten a ton of rice and noodles and eggs since we got here and that seems to be the typical daily diet of the base here. We are staying with the YWAM base in Shillong here.
The people are beautiful and very nice, the air is clean and streets are paved. There is a large Christian influence here in northeast India and it is noticeable as you walk around the city. People are different, the air is different.
We went to a church and Christophe shared his testimony as well as a short message of Gods faithfulness and encouraged the youth there. It was a wonderful and small church with great music and people dancing and smiling brightly. Then afterward, we spent some time with them and met some college students that invited us to play volleyball with them. After volleyball they took us to this massive Catholic Church and it was beautiful with amazing art but not really my type of thing. Ritualistic stuff like confessionals and what they think is holy water doesn’t make my heart go faster. Nor does seeing crucifixes or worship to Mary and the apostles.
What makes my heart beat faster is seeing a small dirty place filled with people who pour out worship for Jesus and know him personally as their dad and savior and friend.
Seeing people pray and prophecy over each other and encourage one another and then go encourage others that they don’t even know who may or may not know Jesus.
Seeing people love each other and forgive from the heart for terrible offenses that most people would only see hate come from.
This stirs my heart and makes me want to know how to love better.
This week I am working on honoring others in my words.
Today we went to a bible camp and sang with the kids, got them pumped up and showed them some games, actions to songs, and did a skit to explain the fruits of the spirit.
Then we had lunch and headed back to the college to visit with the college students again.
The kids are great and had lots of fun learning and playing.
My hope is that they feel more loved today then the day before.
